Samsung unveiled its flagship Galaxy devices in an entirely virtual and highly anticipated event. The new Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 series are official and come with an upgraded software experience, available for pre-order in markets including Kenya. The Galaxy Watch 4 from last year also received major updates announced at this event.

Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus

Very minor upgrades from the S21 series here. Apart from the screen size and weight, these two in the S22 series are technically the same phone. The S22 is a 6.1-inch display weighing 167g while the S22+ has a larger 6.6-inch display at 228g. Both are Full HD dynamic AMOLED screens that feature a 120Hz refresh rate with a 240Hz touch sampling rate in Game Mode.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

This phone talks walks and quacks like a Note, but let us not call it that. Samsung has unveiled Galaxy S22 Ultra, merging the best of two smartphone legacies – the famous power of the Note Series and the pro-grade camera and performance of the S Series.

The 6.8-inch screen features a built-in S Pen and advanced Nightography and video capabilities. At 228g, it is a beast of a device made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back.

Pricing and Availability

All the phones will be available in Burgundy, Phantom Black, Phantom White, and Green as color options. The Galaxy S22 Ultra 512 GB will retail at Ksh.159,999 while the S22 Ultra 256 GB will retail at Ksh. 148,999; Galaxy S22+ 256GB will retail at Ksh. 116,999 and the Galaxy S22 256 GB will retail at Ksh. 99,000.

The Galaxy S22 series will be available for pre-order in Kenya beginning 1st March 2022, and the pre-order period continues until 10th March 2022. Customers that pre-order and purchase the Galaxy S22 series during the pre-order period will receive the Galaxy Buds 2 for free.
