During the beginning of the pandemic, Zoom stepped up to the game and dominated the video conferencing platform. This is mainly due to the fact that users don’t need to sign up for an account to use it. Zoom allowed users to host meetings that anyone with access to the link could join even with no account. Now the chat platform WhatsApp is rolling out the Call Links feature so you can share a link of a call with other users.

Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp made an announcement on Twitter about the company introducing call links on its platform.

How WhatsApp Call Links Work

Users will be able to generate links for scheduled or instant calls for both voice and video calls to share on individual or group chats. You will need the latest version of WhatsApp to use Call Links. From the Calls tab, you can select Call Links option. You can then generate a link for a voice or video call to share with other users.

Users can click on the link and it lets them join the call instantly, which is useful especially if you are trying to invite users who aren’t in your contacts. Although this is a feature that has been in existence for a while now, it has given their billions of users who actively use the platform everyday an easier method of communication. This alone sets itself apart from its competitors like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

The feature is set to be available on both Android and iOS .
