Twitter has rolled out the ability for all iOS users globally to Super Follow select creators. This comes to an expansion for a feature that was only available to users in the U.S. and Canada. Super Follows allow users to subscribe to accounts they like for a monthly subscription fee in exchange for exclusive content.

As reported in our previous articles, the feature allows users to monetise their Twitter accounts as well as make content exclusive to those who pay monthly subscriptions.
Super Follows initially launched in September following its announcement in February. Other than monetising the who account, the eligible accounts can also choose to mark individual posts for premium subscribers. This was described as an effort to finally let content creators with huge followings finally be able to earn from their accounts.
The process for activating the feature is currently based on the app alone although we would expect it to extend to desktop over time.
The global rollout can also be seen as an effort from Twitter to try and get more creators on it after a start that hasn’t been as impressive. According to a report from Sensor Tower last month, Super Follows had only generated around $6,000 in the U.S. and around $600 in Canada in its first two weeks. The question is whether the numbers will improve once it’s available to users across the globe.
However, it is important to know that Super Follows isn’t Twitter’s only monetization feature. The other is ‘Tips’ lets users receive monetary donations from their followers who value their content. The other is the Newsletter feature that also lets creators and influencers monetise their content for exclusive access.
