If you have any slight idea of the happenings around the smartphone world, you know that Huawei’s latest flagship phone, the Huawei P30 Pr0 has been kicking ass when it comes to mobile photography – a feature that has been prominent in the P-Series lineup since its inception.
The fuss about the P30 Series is its camera, which builds on the legacy that was laid by the company’s other flagship, Mate 20 Pro, launched towards the end of last year. The P30 series comes in three variants, the hail mary P30 Pro – whose reference you will see a lot, the middle child, standard P30 and the well-priced (predictably best seller) P30 Lite.
P30 Pro
We’ve already had a list of five of the coolest things about this device but the crown is the camera. This phone’s camera has received a lot of praise from the tech community, especially on its zoom capabilities and night photography.
There’s only very little that words can express, so here are samples of pictures taken from the Huawei P30 Pro thanks to The Verge’s Vlad Savov:

If that’s not convincing enough, here’s a breakdown of the device’s specifications:
- 6.47″ Curved OLED Display
- Android 9.0 Pie
- 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage
- Quad 40MP (main) + 20MP (ultra-wide) + 8MP (zoom) + Time of Flight 3D camera
- 32MP selfie camera
- 4200mAh battery
- Under the display fingerprint scanner
- Price: Kes.99,999
P30
This one might not get as much attention as the former device or the next one, but it is equally stunning. It shares quite a lot with the Pro variant only shedding off weight with the camera (by not including the time of flight sensor that gives crazy good portrait shots) and its overall size. With all honesty, this particular device will get lost in the noise and it is easy to see why as the other two devices in the lineup have a lot more going for them, however, here’s a breakdown of the specifications of the Huawei P30:
- 6.1″ OLED Display
- Android 9.0 Pie
- 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage
- Triple 40MP (main) + 16MP (ultra-wide) + 8MP (zoom)
- 32MP selfie camera
- 3650mAh battery
- Under the display fingerprint scanner
- Price: Kes.79,999
P30 Lite
Knowing the Kenyan market, this is the device that will be outselling all the others in this lineup. The device comes with a beautiful design like the flagships, amazing camera performance and despite shedding a few kilos in terms of specs here and there, the price is attractive enough to justify everything. Here’s a quick breakdown of the specifications of the Huawei P30 Lite:
- 6.15″ LCD Display
- Android 9.0 Pie
- 4GB RAM + 128GB internal storage
- Triple 24MP (main) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (depth sensor)
- 32MP selfie camera
- 3340mAh battery
- Rear mounted fingerprint scanner
- Price: Kes.29,999
These devices are currently on pre-order until the 26th of April 2019 and pre-order customers of the P30 lite will get a free Bluetooth speaker, while those who pre-order the P30 and P30 Pro will get a Bluetooth speaker and Huawei’s P3 Band.
