Looks like the second-hand gadgets market in Kenya is currently in the hands of Badili Africa. Launched early this year, customers have been able to access all their services through their website and their store in Westlands. Now, the first re-commerce platform in Africa is ready to launch its second Badili store. 

Badili Africa Opens Second Physical Store

The first Badili Store, which opened in July is at Ambience mall, Ring Road, in the Westlands area of Nairobi. Having received a highly positive response from its customers over the past few months, Badili is now opening its second store on Riara Road, Opposite Junction Mall. 

The store aims to be a one stop shop for all your smartphone needs like selling your old phone at an unbeatable price, buying a refurbished phone at almost half the price, and trading in your existing phone for a better one. The company also now offers mobile repair services for Samsung, iPhone, Oppo, and a couple of other brand users

It’s Been a Good Year for Badili…

Aside from opening the two stores, Badili has also signed several strategic partnerships. These include Elite Technologies, Samsung, and Lipa Later. 

They have also raised a pre-seed round of $2.1M. This funding is co-invested by Venture Catalysts, Grenfell holdings, SOSV, Artha India Ventures, Inflection Point Ventures, and a dozen other family offices from Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and India.

Badili is on a mission to create a parallel economy for consumer electronics across Africa. They are looking to create one that is standardised, sustainable, and affordable when it comes to price. It wants to make the process of buying a refurbished smartphone as common/ seamless as buying a used car. With the addition of this new physical store, it looks like the plan may be successful.
