Showmax, Netflix, HBO, Amazon, YouTube, or Plain old Cable TV? With so many options to choose from, it’s overwhelming to decide what to watch. That’s why I have compiled a list of weekend movies and series recommendations from our team members at Gadgets Africa.

So grab some popcorn, get cozy, and let us help you decide what to watch this weekend!

I will begin with the Team Lead, the man with the voice, Onamu:

(In italics are the comments I grabbed sneakily on what they had to say about the recommendation.)

Hancock is a superhero whose ill-considered behavior regularly causes damage in the millions. He changes when the person he saves helps him improve his public image.

“Rewatching it again because I love this movie and I love will smith😂 love the comedy and the fact that he is a superhero who could not care less.”

II. Series-Perfect Match

It is a strategic dating competition that features famously single stars who come to a tropical paradise to find love.

“I just like to live vicariously through those reality tv “stars”. They have so much drama that I would not want for myself, but I like to experience it through them😂.”

III. Animation- Inside Job

For employees of the Deep State, conspiracies aren’t just theories, they’re facts. And keeping them a secret is a full-time job.

“I like the conspiracy theories and the subtle jokes sprinkled all around the show.”

Next up, the Queen of the team, Miss Claudia:

I.Movie- The Strays

A light-skinned Black woman’s meticulously crafted life of privilege unravels when two strangers show up in her quaint suburban town.

“This is just that kind of movie for me. Sold from the storyline”

II. Series- The Real Housewives of Nairobi

The Real Housewives of Nairobi will follow five dynamic women as they navigate their lavish lifestyles, relationships, and careers in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. These women include Susan Kaittany, Vera Sidika, Sonal Maherali, Minne Kariuki, and Lisa Christoffersen.

“Not yet watched it but the drama that is going down on Twitter is giving”

The next set of recommendations is from our current face of TikTok, Duncanzz with multiple zzz:

I. Movie-Hustle

After a down-on-his-luck basketball scout discovers an extraordinary player abroad, he brings the phenom back without his team’s approval.

“I like it because it shows that people can get to where they want if they work hard.”

II. Series- Single Kiasi

It follows the lives of three women in Nairobi as they go through the difficulties of marriage, relationships, and careers.

“I always love to watch Kenyan shows and the drama on this one is really interesting”

Now finally, recommendations from yours truly, self-proclaimed “Most Underrated Tweep“.

I. Movie- The Platform

In the future, prisoners housed in vertical cells watch as inmates in the upper cells are fed while those below starve.

“Anything thought-provoking on this level, something that makes you think deeper about the human condition and the themes of greed, success, and vanity… sign, me, up.”

II. Series- Explained

News site Vox is behind this series that puts the spotlight on topical issues that impact people’s lives. The docu-series. which features episodes that generally range from 15 to 20 minutes in length, aims to dig deeper into topics, questions, and ideas that aren’t often part of the daily news.

“The title speaks for itself”

  1. Gangs of London is one of the best shows that few people are aware of, and I stumbled upon it. The first season of geometry dash was amazing. The twist in the second season finale was also fantastic.
