WhatsApp is planning something new for its iOS version, it’s allegedly aiming to block taking screenshots on media sent via the ‘View Once’ feature. The ‘View Once’ feature was first introduced last year that would let users send photos and videos that disappear after they are opened. This is similar to what Snapchat and Instagram did. This update will help keep the media shared confidential and only available after the first click of the media.
WhatsApp to Block Taking Screenshots In Their View Once Feature
According to WABetaInfo on Twitter, the new feature is available on WhatsApp beta (available in TestFlight) for iOS version 22.21.0.71 and may feature in the final version of the app in the coming future. With the feature in place, users who try to take a screenshot or screen recording of a ‘View Once’ media file will get an error message saying that the action is ‘blocked for added privacy’.

It’s important to note that there’s no way to disable the new feature which will become a standard for WhatsApp users once it becomes available to everyone. Given the extra privacy it brings, WhatsApp will implement the feature for all users.
Other WhatsApp Features That Are Coming Soon
This is not the only feature that is coming to WhatsApp. The latest beta version of the app also adds the ability to create interactive polls and most recently, WhatsApp announced that users can create call links to invite other users to join a call, just like the communication platform, Zoom.
