Install A Printer To Windows 11 Automatically
Ensure that your printer is powered on and plugged in if it’s a wired printer. If it’s a wireless printer, ensure it’s connected to the same network as your computer.
- Open Settings.
- Click on Bluetooth & Devices.
- Select on the Printers & Scanners page.
- Click on the Add A Printer Or Scanner button.
- Click on Add Device for Windows to locate the printer.
Once done installing, the printer will show up in the list with other printers and scanners you’re using.
Install A Printer To Windows 11 Manually
If your computer isn’t recognizing the printer automatically, you can try to add it manually.
- Open Settings.
- Click on Bluetooth & Devices.
- Select on the Printers & Scanners page.
- Click on the Add A Printer Or Scanner button.
- Click on Add Device for Windows to locate the printer.
- Select the Add Manually link.
- Choose one of the several options, depending on your situation and how you plan to connect the printer. The options work for both wireless or network-attached printers. If your printer is attached locally/directly to your computer, choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings, and then Next.
- Choose a port the printer is attached to, then select Next.
- In the options for installing the printer driver, there are 2 options. Select Have Disk to browse for it. Otherwise, select Windows Update.
- Choose the printer’s manufacturer from the left column, and then the model from the right column. Select Next.
- Add the printer name, select Next.
- Choose Do Not Share This Printer, then select Next. In case you want to share then select Share This Printer.
- Select Print a test page if you want to test the printer, otherwise, choose Finish to see the printer in your list of devices.
