WhatsApp for iPad might soon be a reality as the online messaging service is reportedly working on multi-device support.
As reported by WABetaInfo, the feature has been spotted in the beta version which highly suggests that it will be released officially. Dubbed “multi-device 2.0”, users will soon be able to use their iPads as newly linked devices. The report also mentions Android tablets as part of the list of devices to get multi-device support on WhatsApp. This could definitely be useful for avid tablet users like digital artists who will not have to insert a new SIM card just to access the app.
Currently, it is said that WhatsApp allows users to connect up to four devices with one smartphone. A spokesperson told TechRadar that the upcoming feature will allow users to link multiple devices without the need to have their daily driver connected. So, the account will be fully in the cloud similar to what Telegram has.

“Multi-device means that users will have the same functionality that is available on the current public versions of WhatsApp Web, Desktop and Portal, just without the need to have your phone connected. Our multi-device capability immediately makes the experience better for people who use Desktop/Web and Portal. And it also will make it possible to add support for more kinds of devices over time.”
The Facebook-owned company is also working on a feature that resembles Instagram’s message reactions. This will allow you to react to messages with emoji icons. This could be quite similar to Instagram where one has to long-press the message and select which emoji to use out of the ones displayed.
