The Xiaomi MiCC9 and MiCC9e Revealed Ahead of Launch

Xiaomi partnered with Meitu, a Chinese tech company and revealed their selfie-centric MiCC line up of phones for this year in China. Ahead of the official launch of the Xiaomi MiCC9 and MiCC9e, the smartphone maker took to Weibo to show off an image of the phones’ backs.

The series will, however, come with an additional MiCC9 Meitu custom edition that has been reported to not be much of a difference in from the main MiCC9 variant except for the colour variants, storage and RAM.

According to the teaser images released so far, the MiCC9 and MiCC9e will come with a triple rear camera module and a sleek gradient design at the back as well as a teardrop notch design for the front.

Meanwhile, the MiCC9 which is expected to be the main smartphone in the series features a 6.39-inch full HD+ AMOLED display, whose performance will rely on a 2.2. GHz octa-core Snapdragon 710 processor alongside an Adreno 616 GPU teamed up with 6GB RAM and 64GB & 128GB storage variations.

Anyone who needs more storage will have the option of the MicroSD card slot that will support up to 256GB of storage. All this will then be powered by a 4030 mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

As for the camera setup, the phone will pack a 48-MP main camera, an 8-MP ultrawide lens and a 2-MP depth of field sensor. The front notch will then house a 32-MP selfie camera that features Mimoji Shooting, AI Portrait Mode, 3D Beauty, Front Panorama, Gesture Photo, Front HDR, Front Screen Fill, Face Recognition, AI Smart Beauty among others.

The MiCC9 has been set in China at a price of CNY 1,999 (about Ksh. 30,000) for the 128GB variant and CNY 1,999 (about Ksh.27,000) for the 64GB option. Buyers will have Blue Planet, Dark Prince, and White Lover colour options to choose from.

The MiCC9e expected to be slightly the lower of the series comes with a 6-inch HD+ (720×1560 pixels) AMOLED display powered by a 2.0 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 665 chip alongside 4GB and 6GB RAM alternatives.

Same to the former, it will house 64GB and 128GB storage options. Despite the lack of NFC support for this model, it is powered by a 4,030mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. All this hardware then causes the phone to weigh 173.8 grams with 153.48×71.85×8.4mm dimensions.

As for the cost, it will start from CNY 1,299 (about Ksh. 19,400) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model, going up to CNY 1,399 (approximately Ksh.21,000) for the 6GB RAM  and 64GB storage model, and CNY 1,599 (about Ksh.24,000) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model.

The Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Custom Edition comes with an 8GB RAM and 256GB storage option, priced at CNY 2,599 (approximately Rs 26,000) and will be available in a White gradient finish only.

With the Xiaomi MiCC9 and the Meitu Custom Editon expected to be on sale on July 5th in China and the MiCC9e on July 9th, we will then have to wait later for the launch here.
