Check this out: Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) Unboxing and First Impressions
We knew that Huawei was prepping to launch the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) sometime this week, before the end of the month. The Y9 Prime (2019) is the successor to the hard-hitting Y9 (2019) which launched last year.
The device, which launches at a time when Huawei’s reputation seems to be on the red, is a pretty decent phone that will send chills down some competitor’s spines thanks to its pricing.
Speaking of pricing, as Huawei was busy teasing the device and running promotional price-guess trivia on social media, Jumia (through an influencer) has gone ahead and revealed the price.

The highlights of the phone include a pop-up camera that is following the trend set by the OPPO F11 Pro in the Kenyan market, there’s a triple camera setup on the back of the phone, a huge 4000mAh battery and 128GB onboard storage.
Honestly, with such specifications, we’d expect nothing less than Kes.40,000 – that’s actually the price that OPPO sells their similarly spec’d device at. Well, thanks to Jumia, we now have a new phone we can easily recommend (based on the specs and price), as long as you are not sceptical of the uncertain future of Huawei and Android.
At Kes.24,999, the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) is an easy sell. We’re not certain if this will be a special price for Jumia only, seeing that the e-commerce platform is tagging the phone as an exclusive launch for their Anniversary Sale but going by Huawei’s trend, that’s the same price we’ll get on physical stores as well.
Huawei is yet to announce the official launch date for the Y9 Prime (2019) but at least now we have a price to the hyped specs.
