Infinix Note 5 and Note 5 Plus users will be pleased to know that the company has released the Android Pie update for these two devices, albeit under the beta program. This is a welcome step, as the two devices are under the Android One program and it is quite comforting that Infinix is keeping their word of updating these two.
When the devices launched last year, the company promised to update them both to the next version of Android before March of 2019 and if all goes well, this promise should be realised. Note that this Android Pie update we are currently talking about is a beta version which means you should probably not install it if the Note 5 is your main device as the software might be unstable and contain a few bugs.
However, if you are the kind to get your hands dirty, signing up for the Android Pie beta is fairly easy.
- First, fill in this online document
- You will be required to provide your phone’s IMEI number, the build number and your Infinix X Club ID among other details
- An OTA update will be sent to your device and you can download the update
- It is recommended that you reset your device after installing the update just to ensure you get a smooth experience
The beta program is only open to the Infinix Note 5 (X604) and Infinix Note 5 Plus (X605) variants. The company has not mentioned any regional restrictions, therefore those not in Kenya are also welcome to sign up.
