At the end of May 2019, Vivo confirmed to Gadgets Africa that they had set up shop in the country and were looking to officially start selling smartphones in Kenya.
A few months later and the company has gotten things rolling with the very first Vivo smartphone selling in Kenya being the Vivo Y15.
The Vivo Y15 has a selling price of Kes.22,000 and is available at various retailers across the Nairobi. The device is a mid-range phone that does pack quite the specs but will similarly face tough competition is quite tough. But on to the device itself, here’s what you get:

The biggest selling point for the device is the massive battery, which is literally best in class. We have not used the phone but from our experience with other phones, the Vivo y15 should last through two days of busy smartphone usage without any trouble.

Should You Buy a Vivo Smartphone?
While a small number of you might actually know what Vivo is, a larger percentage have never heard of the brand. Well, the brand is owned by the same company that own OPPO and if numbers make you feel better, Vivo is among the top 10 best selling brands in the world, actually, to be more precise, it was the sixth best selling vendor with a total of 27 million smartphones sold between April and June 2019.
So yes, you should have nothing to worry about Vivo smartphones, aside from the fact that the likes of Huawei and Samsung probably offer better value.
