Nokia’s cheapest smartphone, the Nokia 1 Plus has received a significant price cut in the Kenyan market. The device, which launched at Kes.9,500 has been discounted to Kes.8,300.
The device, which was launched back in April 2019, offers what we described as an “ultimate data saver but one that sacrifices on a lot of specs”. During our review of the Nokia 1 Plus, we pointed out that the device has a good design, albeit its plastic, the size of the phone was also much appreciated with the 5.45-inch display fitting perfectly in the hand without the need for a lot of stretching to reach the corners of the device.
The most outstanding feature of the Nokia 1 Plus was, however, its software – something that has become a signature feature of Nokia devices. The device runs on Android 9.0 Pie (Go Edition) with the promise of two years of feature updates and three years of security updates, something that no other device at this price range can brag of.
It’s not all good, as our review did find that the Camera and performance of the device (owing to its 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage) to be wanting and borderline frustrating. However, we have to admit that the price cut does make the device more attractive to anyone who is interested in it.
Like we said in our review, “considering the fact that it is a noticeable upgrade from its previous version despite some disappointing factors like the rear horizontal speak, it is one to look out for.”
