Why Your Mouse Keeps Freezing

If your mouse is freezing, then it’s likely to be down to one of a few issues. It could be; improper, corrupt, or outdated drivers, malware/viruses, technical issues like low batteries, connectivity issues like damaged or loose cord, corrupt Windows registry, or a malfunctioning touchpad.

The most common reason is new drivers. According to users, this issue can appear if you recently updated your mouse or touchpad driver. If your cursor freezes, jumps or disappears, you need to roll back to the older driver or find out what could be the issue.

There is also a chance that it may not be a technical problem to blame, it could be dust stopping the mouse from actually reporting any movement. With so many unknowns, it is helpful to consider all of the reasons why your mouse might have frozen.

 To fix the problem you should follow the following steps:

1. Press Crtl-Alt-Delete (at the same time). 
2. Turn off your computer and restart it. 
3. Press the tower’s power button and hold on to it until the entire system shuts down. …
4. Try a different mouse. 
5. Try connecting a USB mouse to a USB port.

To fix a frozen cursor

Locate the function key on the keyboard (F1 through F12) that has an icon of a touchpad. b) Press and hold the “Fn” key, usually found in the lower left area of the keyboard. c) Press the touchpad function key and then release both keys.
