Apple has announced that Tap to Pay will be available on the iPhone. Small and large business owners alike can accept Apple Pay and other contactless payment options using a single tap with their iPhone. Furthermore, Payment platforms and app developers can incorporate Tap to Pay on iPhone into their iOS apps and provide it as a payment option to their business clients.

iPhone Tap To Pay

Tap to Pay on iPhone will enable merchants to accept contactless payments through an iOS app on an iPhone XS or later smartphone. To pay, consumers simply hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near the merchant’s iPhone to use Apple Pay. Transaction will then happen through a contactless credit or debit card, or another digital wallet.

“In collaboration with payment platforms, app developers, and payment networks, we’re making it easier than ever for businesses of all sizes — from solopreneurs to large retailers — to seamlessly accept contactless payments and continue to grow their business.” Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet said.

Apple’s Tap to Pay app does not require any additional hardware to accept contactless payments, so businesses can accept payments anywhere. With Apple Pay now accepted by over 90% of US retailers, businesses large and small will likely accept it.

With Tap to Pay, payment platforms and app developers can offer their merchant customers a robust set of tools to help them run and grow their businesses. It will work with contactless credit and debit cards from leading payment networks, including American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.

All of Apple’s payment features are designed and developed to provide consumers with the highest level of privacy. This new feature uses the same technology that makes Apple Pay private and secure, protecting customers’ payment data.
