Google for Startups Black Founders Fund 2023

This program is designed to provide Black founders with the capital and resources necessary to scale their businesses. The aim is to eventually make a positive impact in their communities.

Eligible startups MUST:

  • Have a technology-based product or service
  • Be based in one of the eligible countries in Africa.
  • Applicants must have a Black founder who plays an active leadership role in the company.

If selected, startups will receive up to $100K in equity-free cash and access to the best of Google—people, products, and practices. In addition, they receive up to $200K in Google Cloud Credits. The program can provide valuable support and resources that can help startups overcome some challenges they may face in the startup ecosystem, including access to funding, mentorship, and resources.

The Google for Startups Black Founders Fund in Africa program has a track record of success, having supported over 150 startups in the region. Last year, the second cohort of recipients included 110 startups. These have raised over $107 million in follow-on funding, hired 824 staff members, and expanded their revenue growth.

Black founders in Africa are harnessing the power of technology to tackle some of the region’s most pressing challenges, from healthcare to agriculture and beyond.
