The Ministry of Labour is now inviting applications from jobless Kenyan nurses seeking employment opportunities in the UK. This was confirmed on Monday when the ministry began asked willing applicants to register through a specialised portal.
This opportunity comes after Kenya managed to strike a deal with the UK on July 29. The signed pact is expected to benefit unemployed surplus medics in the country. President Uhuru Kenyatta signed the agreement during his visit to London as part of a new scheme that Kenya had requested.
“The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has been mandated to spearhead the implementation of the agreement in terms of recruitment and facilitating the migration of qualified candidates to the United Kingdom,” said the ministry in a public notice.
“The first batch of healthcare workers, targeted for the recruitment under the agreement, are nurses. The Ministry of Labour, therefore, invites interested and eligible candidates to register for consideration of the programme.”
