HUAWEI launched the nova 5T today, 23rd January 2020, at the Nairobi Serena Hotel. Speaking at the event, the training manager for HUAWEI in Kenya, Derrick, said that the nova 5T focuses on three major aspects, Design, Performance and Photography. Here’s all you need to know about this innovative device.
Design
The phone features a 6.26 Full High Definition+ Display with a 91% screen to body ratio. This display isn’t as large as other phones and is comfortable to the touch. HUAWEI chose the punch-hole design for the selfie camera and sacrificed the headphone jack. They also opted to have a a fingerprint scanner on the power button. The back features the cameras in a horizontal set-up with the Nova logo on the bottom and a flashy reflective(finger-print magnet) design at the back.
Performance
The nova comes equipped with the Kirin 980 Octa-core chip-set processor which they stated makes the phone 70% faster. It also has 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It comes with Android 9.0 out of the box with an update to Android 10. With a battery capacity of 3750mAh, it should last you about 7 hours a day of screen on time. To add to that, they have a 22-watt capable USB-C super-charging feature which allegedly charges your phone to about 50% in 30 minutes.
Photography
The phone has 3 rear Cameras:
- 48 MP (f/1.8 aperture AF) + 16 M (f/2.2 aperture FF) main camera
- 2 M (f/2.4 aperture FF) macro camera
- 2 M (f/2.4 aperture FF) wide angle camera
The main camera supports auto-focus (phase focus, contrast focus) and night shots. It also has a 32 MP, f/2.0 aperture selfie camera that supports fixed focal length.
