Last year in September, OnePlus announced that they were working on a new product, a smart TV. Following this announcement, the company engaged its fans in coming up with a name for their new product.
At the beginning of August, it was confirmed (through a listing on the Bluetooth SIG website) that OnePlus was indeed working on a smart TV. Some of the details that we got back then include the screen sizes that range between 45-inches and 75-inches on top of details on market availabilities.
Shortly after this, MySmartPrice revealed detailed information that the TV will be launching in September, between the 25th and the 30th of the month, with the exact date quoted as September 26 – but with a warning that plans could change. This leak also revealed that OnePlus could make at least one model of the TV with an OLED panel, something that was missing in the previous wave of information that showed only LCD panels.
On top of that, OnePlus has now shed some more light on the TV through their forums. The company has announced that the TV will be named, OnePlusTV explaining that the name is “simple yet to-the-point – as we believe there’s no other name that can best represent our value, vision and pride than naming it with our own brand.”
The company also revealed the TV’s new logo, which is a combination of the OnePlus logo and the text “TV” next to it in a symmetrical font that OnePlus says was inspired by “classic geometric progression, which can be seen from so many classic art forms, such the ancient Hindu symbol, the mandala, and the famous ancient Greek temple, Heraion of Argos.”
It would have been nice to get an official launch date or at least a hint of it but at least for now we can rest assured that indeed, there’s a OnePlus TV on the way.
[…] The question is, what’s the highest price you’d be willing to spend on a TV? […]
