The dust has barely settled on the recently launched Huawei Y7 Prime (2019) – a decent midrange smartphone that packs quite the punch in all the right places, and now Huawei is gearing up to launch the Y6 Prime (2019). The Y6 sits in between the Y7, which retails at Kes.18,000 and the slightly older Y5 Lite, which retails at Kes.10,000, which gives us a range of what the pricing might look like.

Like every other 2019 smartphone, the Y6 Prime comes with a huge screen, designed with a dewdrop notch that houses the 8MP selfie camera. Speaking of cameras, the device has a single lens on the back that shoots at 13MP – From this, it is clear that the cameras on this phone are not its strongest point, maybe that 6.09″ display is.

From the images, the phone looks quite good, especially the back which has faux leather-like stitching to mimic a premium look, something that consumers will actually appreciate.

The Huawei Y6 Prime (2019) packs 2GB of RAM with 32GB internal storage, which is expandable via MicroSD card. The battery capacity is 3020mAh, we cannot comment on the longevity of this battery during usage but we hope Huawei does pack its battery saving options within its software to help stretch out the battery life.

The device will be launched next week, no exact date has been given. However, Huawei is running “Guess the Price” promotion on Kilimall that will see consumers stand a chance to win the phone, “Everyone now can take part in the price guessing activity and the lucky winners who manage to guess the correct price of the Huawei Y6 2019 will get giveaways with a range of gifts and assorted prizes, and the big winner will get a free Y6 2019,” said Huawei Head of Eastern Africa Mobile, Steven Li.
