It’s basically been over a week since this unfortunate fate fell on Fortnite pro-gamer and streamer, Jarvis Khattri, but the whole community still can’t seem to wrap their heads around it yet. In this growing influencer economy, what do you do when you are banned from the vehicle of your main source of income? Well, you make an apology video.
The last couple of days may have possibly been the worst in this young gamer’s life. Jarvis Khattri, a famous Fortnite player aged 17, was banned from the globally popular game, Fortnite after being found to cheat in the game. Jarvis, who also streams his gameplay giving his viewers tips on how to win various matches, decided to use a cheating mechanism (aimbot) to showcase on YouTube.
Well, with these being an utter violation of the rules in the game, it led to him receiving a ban for life from the Fortnite. He was logged out of his account and given a hardware and Internet provider ban. This means that he cannot even make a new account without going through more drastic measures like relocating and changing providers. And even then with his popularity, he would still get caught by Epic Games.
In a matter of minutes, what Jarvis thought was just fun turned out to be a really sour taste in his mouth. And when I mean sour, it is that bad. The gamer had to post a video on his YouTube channel to apologise to Epic Games and 1.9 million subscribers. Later on, it was reported that he had to move from his million-dollar mansion in Los Angeles, the USA back to his home in England.
The fact that XXiF actually cheated in a competitive environment, received just a 2 week ban, wound up taking a spot at World Cup and plays to this day as if nothing happened while Jarvis is banned for life is fkn ridiculous #FreeJarvis

And even after more and more apologises through basically all his social media pages, Epic Games has still remained fixated on his decision for the life ban, nothing more, nothing less.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for the usage of cheat software. When people use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly.
This was followed by various statements from other famous Fortnite pro-gamers who expressed how they felt the punishment to be unfair. This even included the world’s famous gamer, Ninja.
#FreeJarvis I don’t understand why he gets perma banned while just doing it for content for a short amount of time while in World Cup there’s cheaters who did it during a 30M dollar tourney and got a 2 week ban ?

This even has led to #FreeJarvis on Twitter by his fans and the Fortnite playing community in hopes of trying to get Epic to reconsider the life ban. Now was he wrong? Yes. Did he deserve to be slapped with a life ban? Well, he is a gaming influencer and obviously showing viewers how to cheat in the game was what Epic Games found intolerable. But with Epic Games clearly intending to stand by its decision, it does seem that this action is beyond Jarvis.
He may serve a scapegoat and Epic may decide to overturn the ban but it is clear that players are warned. You want to cheat, do it at your own risk.
