YouTube Music is introducing new features that leverage AI to enhance your music experience. You will now be able to use AI to generate custom playlists and search for songs by singing, humming, or playing them out loud.
AI-Generated Playlists
YouTube Music is testing an innovative feature that allows you to create playlists using AI. As a Premium user in the US, you can describe exactly what you want to hear, and the AI will generate a custom playlist for you.
Screenshots obtained by 9to5Google reveal a chat-like interface where you can enter a description or choose from prompts such as “catchy pop choruses” or “upbeat pop anthems.” The AI will then craft a playlist based on your inputs, similar to Spotify’s AI-generated playlist feature for Premium users.
Song Search by Singing or Humming
Another exciting feature rolling out is the ability to search for songs by singing, humming, or playing them out loud. This Shazam-like functionality is available on both iPhone and Android devices. You can access it by tapping the new waveform icon in the YouTube Music app’s search section.
Once you use this feature, YouTube Music will attempt to identify the song and display the song name, artist, and album if found. This feature was initially tested last year and began rolling out on Android in May.
These updates aim to make your music discovery and listening experience more intuitive and enjoyable. Keep an eye out for these features in the YouTube Music app and enhance your musical journey with AI-powered tools.
