Taking a screenshot with your smartphone has become just as essential as making phone calls and sending messages. Screenshots are essential for easily and quickly recording details or information displayed on your smartphone. It’s surprising how often you need to take a screenshot on your phone. Whether it’s to capture a funny meme or that bag that you have been eyeing, knowing how to take a screenshot is important.
Luckily, Samsung Galaxy phones offer a variety of ways to take a screenshot either via button combinations, palm swipe or using Bixby. Here’s how to take screenshots on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
Button Combinations
This is the universal way of taking screenshots on Android devices.
- Open the content you want to screenshot.
- Press the power and volume buttons simultaneously and release.
- The screenshot will pop up on the bottom right. By clicking on it, you jump into edit mode where you can make further modifications to the screenshot.
Palm Swipe
Samsung Galaxy devices have a smart feature to capture a screenshot by using your palm. This method is efficient when the buttons can’t be reached.
- Open the Settings app and tap Advanced Features.
- Select Motions and Gestures, then toggle on Palm Swipe To Capture.
- Once enabled, put the content that you want to screenshot on the screen.
- Place your hand vertically on the left or right edge of the phone, and swipe it across the screen, while keeping your hand in contact with the screen, in one motion.
- You will see the screen flash and shrink, indicating the screenshot was successfully captured.
Bixby
Bixby is Samsung’s smart assistant and can be used to take a screenshot on your behalf.
- Open the content you want to screenshot.
- Long press the side button to wake Bixby.
- Say “Hi Bixby, take a screenshot.“
Scrolling Screenshot
When taking a screenshot, it only captures what you can currently see on the screen. This won’t work if you are trying to capture a screenshot of a full webpage or a long post. This is where Scrolling Screenshots come in.
First ensure the Screenshot Toolbar is enabled.
- Open the Settings app and tap Advanced Features.
- Select Screenshots and Screen Recorder, then toggle on Screenshot Toolbar.
- Once enabled, put the content that you want to screenshot on the screen.
- Take a screenshot.
- When the Screenshot Toolbar shows up, tap the Scroll Capture button. It has two arrows pointing down.
- Scroll to the point you want the screenshot taken.
