Google Chrome has a built-in password management tool, a service that is also provided by a bunch of other sites. If you already use one of those,  you might not need Chrome for the same reason after all. So here is how to safely clear your passwords from Chrome.

It is important to note that this is also the way to disable password autofill from Chrome. The first thing you must do is to have a backup of your credentials. This is in case you know…just in case.

Backup Chrome Passwords

Unfortunately, Google Chrome doesn’t offer too many options when it comes to exporting passwords. You will rely on a CSV file, which can be imported to any password manager. It is simple enough still.

1. Go to passwords.google.com.
2. Tap the Settings cog in the top right.
3. Click Export next to Export passwords.
4. Confirm you want to export a CSV file. Here you may be required to verify your identity.
5. Download is done.

Clear Passwords From Chrome

1. In the top right corner of Chrome, tap the three-dot menu.
2. Tap or click Settings in the menu.
3. On the History page, tap or click Clear browsing data.
4. Choose the Advanced tab and change the date range to All time.
5. You’ll see either Saved passwords or Passwords and other sign-in data. Select only that one.
6. Tap Clear data.
