Times have changed and we can all admit that the past 18 months or so have been the toughest across the world. So, taking care of your mental health is one of the best decisions one can make. This is where meditation comes in. Luckily, you do not have to visit places for this as there are a number of meditation apps designed to give you sessions that you can take from the comfort of your home.

Whether you are a beginner or pro, the following apps we’ve listed can help you with the various mental goals you want to achieve.

Headspace

According to those we asked about these apps, Headspace seemed to turn out as one of the best that one can use. This is more because of the structured courses that the app brings. Through them, Headspace offers the experience of taking an in-person class, but one that you can do anywhere.

From the interface to the various features, it is clear that the meditation app emphasises on the friendly. This is courtesy of the cheerful aesthetic with fun animations designed to give users a mood boost simply from opening the app alone.

There is a number of modes meant to help you reach certain goals and take on more specific challenges. This includes grief, body image, fear, parenting struggles, political anxiety and more.

You can get it on iOS and Google Play Store for $13/month or $70/year.

Calm

After Headspace, this would probably be the second-biggest name in meditation apps. Calm is designed to cater more for those who are more experienced meditators who don’t need structured sequences of classes. However, it can still be used for beginners as it features guided sessions as well.

Like Headspace, Calm is also built to bring a much more soothing environment for users. The app carries a unique hallmark nature brought about by ambient sounds, music and meditation retreat vibe.

According to various reviews though, many users would find Calm to be less streamlined compared to Headspace.

For $15/month or $70/year, you can easily get it on Google Play and iOS App Store.

Shine

Founded by a Black and Half-Japanese, the app is a more female-focused app designed for personal growth and motivational messaging.

The app contains more than just meditation and mindfulness exercises. Luckily, it does come with a free version that gives you access to Daily Shine meditations for the morning, afternoon, evening and more.

As for the premium version, you can get access to its full library of meditation themes alongside other premium self-care features. For this, you get to pay $12/month or $54/year on iOS and Google Play.

Honest Meditation

If you cannot get to afford the three options mentioned above, then Honest Meditation would be one of, if not the best remaining choice for you. The app is meant to help users who have difficulty with the peaceful or positive vibes typically associated with meditation.

The app’s meditations do not pull any punches, offering plenty of relief to anyone who is really going through hard times right now. All the guided meditations are between two and 10 minutes long.

For $2, you can get to install and try it out on iOS and Google Play Store.
