The OPPO F9 is a good device that has been put down by unbearable software and a steep price. When the device launched a few months ago, it came bearing the gifts of AI-powered cameras, great design (I can attest to this) and super fast charging that actually got me excited.
The F9 brought with it a new style notch – now famously known as the waterdrop display, two-tone gradient coloured back with diamond-like finishing and VOOC flash charging that juiced up the device from o% to 50% in under 30 minutes.
To say that the OPPO F9 was and still is an interesting device is an understatement but at that time, the asking price of Kes.35,990 was a bit steep, almost bordering “overpriced” category considering the device’s specifications and what the competition was asking for similar specs. Well, the company has announced a shed in that price, down to Kes.31,990 for a limited time in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
Looking at what the likes of Huawei and TECNO are offering with the Y9 (2019) and Camon 11 Pro respectively for significantly less, makes this “deal” a hard sell but still worth talking about. OPPO smartphones have not been known to be well-priced so any shave on the price tag is a welcome move that will see the company see a boost in sales.
Do we recommend the phone? Well, look at this:
- You get a great 6.3″ FHD+ Display with Gorilla Glass 6
- Great memory at 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage
- The battery life is more than decent thanks to the 3500mAh battery
- The dual 16MP + 2MP and 25MP selfie camera cameras do an amazing job
- There’s a fingerprint reader on the back and software-based face recognition
So, yeah. If you have always wanted to get the OPPO F9, now’s the time.
