Vivo recently launched in Kenya and so far the company has released around four devices into the market including the powerful Vivo V17 Pro that we really loved. This time around, Vivo has released the Y19 whose main headlining feature is its beefy 5000mAh battery.
The Vivo Y19 is a mid-range smartphone that aims to bring some excitement into this crowded segment of the smartphone market. On top of the huge battery, the y19 also comes with the following specifications:
- 6.53″ FHD+ Display with a dew-drop notch
- Octa-core Helio P65
- Curved gradient back
- 4GB RAM + 128GB internal storage
- Rear-mounted fingerprint scanner + face unlock
- Android 9.0
- VoLTE
- Bluetooth 5.0
Powerbank
All these seem like pretty standard stuff that we already get in the market, so to set itself apart, the Vivo Y19 features the big 5000mAh battery that we mentioned earlier.
The battery is not only big enough to last a claimed two-day of usage but the Vivo Y19 can reverse charge, which means that it can be used as a power bank to charge other devices by simply connecting them through a USB cable.
The Y19 also has a triple rear camera setup that features a 16MP main lens + an 8MP wide-angle lens + a 2MP depth sensor. The front side of the phone houses a 16MP selfie camera.
Unfortunately, it’s not all good since Vivo has included a rather dated USB port instead of a USB-C and as much as that gradient back cover looks good its a design that has been featured by 99% of smartphones in the country but that’s just nitpicking at this point.
Availability
The Vivo Y19 is available at all authorised Vivo outlets in the country for a price of KES 26,999 in either magnetic black or spring white.
Awesome smartphone. Mediatek processor and camera are quite good. Battery is the highlight.
