Cleaning your blender can be a pain – quite literally. Trying to figure out if you would prefer to sacrifice your fingers to clean the sharp blades, and clean up sticky ingredients like peanut butter stuck to the walls can be a task. Well, this 30-second foolproof cleaning method – that I have tried myself guarantees faster and easier blender cleanup. Here is how to clean your blender in 30 seconds.

What do I need to clean the blender?

  • Hot water
  • Dish soap
  • Vinegar
  • Soft sponge

How to clean the blender

Fill your blender pitcher about halfway with hot water. Hot water is preferred because it ensures a proper clean. Avoid filling more than half to prevent spills.

Add 2 – 3 drops of dish soap and 1/3 cup of vinegar.

Put the blender pitcher back on the base and fasten the lid onto the blender. Turn it on for a 10 -30 seconds. The soapy water swishing around the blender will help remove any food remnants.

Pour out the soapy water and thoroughly rinse with more hot water.

Tips on keeping your blender clean

  • Clean the blender immediately after use to prevent drying of the food remnants, making it harder to clean.
  • If anything is still stuck, you must clean it with a soft sponge and rinse. Don’t use a metal scrubber/steel wool, as it will scratch the pitcher.
  • With the effectiveness and ease of this cleaning method, it doesn’t replace the occasional deep cleaning of your blender. It’s recommended to clean your blender deep at least once a week to keep mould and bacteria at bay. Simply clean the jar, gasket seal and blade with soap and hot water. Let them air fry before putting the parts back together. Clean the electric base by wiping it down with a damp towel.
