The budget smartphone segment was already flooded with the numerous TECNO, Infinix and X-Tigi smartphones but it seems Huawei is not yet done with their budget lineup. Shortly after launching the slightly better spec’d Huawei Y7 Prime (2019), the company has now introduced a contender in the same space, citing that the new Y6 Prime (2019) is meant to meet the growing demand for budget phones.

The device is priced at Kes.13, 499 and brings with it a number of upgrades from last year’s Y6. On top of the usual specifications – that we shall list below, the Huawei Y6 Prime (2019) comes in three colours, which is one of the highlights of this year’s model as it tries to position itself as a stylish device. There’s a midnight black model, a sapphire blue model and an amber brown model (which comes with a faux leather like design), all of which try to mimic a more premium look, a move that will please customers. The phone is made entirely out of polycarbonate plastic, giving it a solid feel that exudes confidence.

The front of the phone is dominated by the dewdrop display, giving it a more modern look that the old-school notch most phones at this price range are packing. The Huawei Y6 Prime (2019) packs more than just the looks, despite being a budget phone, Huawei has packed quite a set of features through the company’s proprietary software, EMUI 9.0.1 based on Android 9.0 Pie, that not only brings the goodness of Android Pie but also tops everything up with additional features like a phone manager, AI beautification for the cameras and a number of audio-based features meant to give users a better experience with their entertainment needs.

Huawei has included something they call, supersound on the Y6 Prime (2019) which boosts the sound produced by the phone to a much louder level. There is also a Party mode (which lets you use other Huawei phones as synchronized speakers for even louder volume) and A 5.1 surround sound system in-built in.
