TECNO’s latest device, the Camon 11 brings quite the spec sheet with a fairly affordable price. The device, which low-key launched last year as an answer to Huawei’s Y9 that has been gaining popularity among the Kenyan population, will now be available on Safaricom shop.
Until now, the device was available through a number of offline shops as well as online retailers. The device being availed on Safaricom shop will mean improved sales for TECNO as Safaricom shop actually moves numbers. However, this will mean that consumers who buy the device via Safaricom will get the single SIM variant.
On top of being the company’s first notched device, the TECNO Camon 11 features a 6.2-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. There’s a Helio A22 processor on board with 3GB RAM to keep everything running smoothly. Internal storage has been set to 32GB with an optional expansion of up to 256GB and a 3750mAh battery.
On the software end, the Camon 11 features Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with no word on an Android Pie update. Despite having somewhat outdated software, the focus of the Camon 11 is its cameras. There’s a dual camera set up on the back with 13MP and 2MP lenses and a 16MP selfie camera.
The device will be available at all Safaricom shops countrywide at Kes.15,999 which is slightly higher than the recommended retail price it launched at. The TECNO Camon 11 will also be available on Safaricom’s online e-commerce platform, Masoko, later on.
It is, however, noticeable that TECNO has been quiet on the availability of higher spec’d version, Camon 11 Pro. We expected that by now the true Huawei Y9 (2019) competitor would have hit the stores, but oh well.
