Xiaomi Kenya has a reputation of overpromising. The company has missed a few of its own deadlines and more often than not, fans are left asking questions of when a device will actually hit the market.
One such device that elicited fans excitement since January but took too long to get here is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. A phone that many would describe as a prober budget phone that makes little compromises and they would be right.
For enthusiasts, they already know why they are buying the Redmi Note 7, for the rest, it will not be a task convincing you to get one.
From the specifications to the pricing, it is easy to understand why this is a special phone. Before I end up sounding like a fanboy, let’s tone down the excitement.
First, the company made the announcement through their social media accounts and noted very well that there are limited pieces (could be as little as 100 phones). The Redmi Note 7 that is available locally is the 4GB RAM + 128GB variant, which will put up high above devices with a similar price tag at Kes.24,500.
Xiaomi also mentioned that they would include a free screen protector and a screen guard (We honestly don’t know the difference but oh well).

Now, here’s the challenge, to get yourself one, you will have to do so directly from Xiaomi – through their “stone-age” offline channel of calling to order or visiting their office. For some reason, the company did not list the device on their online store on Jumia or even mention whether it will be available on their delayed Mi Home Store at the Hub.
Speaking of Mi Home, the company has confirmed that the Mi True Wireless Earphones that rival the Airpods will be available as well as the Mi Smartband 4, now that’s left is for the company to launch the store already!
