The days of using third-party apps that may or may not work to schedule your Instagram posts are long gone. Instagram is finally rolling out an in-app scheduling tool to all professional accounts. The new tool allows businesses and creators to schedule their posts in advance without having to use third-party apps and users can schedule reels, photos and carousels for up to 75 days within the app. Up until now, it hasn’t been possible to schedule Instagram posts in the app so this new tool will be a game changer for content creators and businesses.

How To Schedule Instagram Posts

To access the feature:

  1. Go to Advanced Settings after creating a post just before sharing it.
  2. Toggle Schedule this post.
  3. Select the time and date the post should go live.
  4. Navigate back to the post and click Schedule.

Scheduled posts can be seen in the Scheduled Content section, accessed through the hamburger menu.

Automation allows users to use their time more efficiently by publishing to Instagram without having to do it manually. One of the advantages of scheduling posts on Instagram is to publish more consistently during prime engagement periods. It’s not known whether Instagram is rolling out the scheduling tool to regular users. If you are a creator who wants to access the feature, make sure to switch your Instagram profile to a professional account ie business or creator account.

It has been a long way coming, but they are here. First, a great number of Twitter users, including myself, have over the years shouted out our need for an edit button.

Second, it was only a matter of time before Twitter brought its own version of short video content. This is as every major online media platform from YouTube to Instagram and Facebook tries to compete with the lead TikTok has in that space.

Finally, the edit button and the TikTok clone feature are both here, but one of them is not free.

Yesterday, Twitter Blue sent out a test tweet, writing, “this is a test to make sure the edit button works, we’ll let you know how it goes.”

The feature will roll out for Twitter’s premium users-Twitter Blue. Twitter Blue is a monthly subscription that gives the most engaged people on Twitter exclusive access to premium features. Twitter Blue is available in countries like the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia for a monthly fee of $4.99.

When users post a tweet, they have 30 minutes to edit it before it’s posted. In these 30 minutes, the user will be able to edit the tweet as many times as they like. In an edited tweet, users can see the edit history, which shows when and what changes were made.

Twitter “TikTok” Video Feature

Twitter is now bringing along a TikTok -like feed right alongside tweets. Twitter’s updated immersive media viewer expands videos to full screen with a single click. Once the video is launched in full-screen mode, video discovery is easy. Just scroll up to browse more video content, like in TikTok and Instagram reels.

This immersive media viewer will be available in the coming days to people using Twitter in English on iOS.

Twitter has also introduced a new video carousel, to help users find more videos they like alongside Tweets and Trends. This newest addition is on Twitter’s Explore tab. The video carousel is currently available to people in select countries using Twitter in English on iOS and Android.

Longer Reels

Previously, creators have only been able to upload reels with a limit of 60 seconds. Now, Instagram is extending that video length to 90 seconds long. TikTok also recently increased their limit from the initial 60 seconds to 10 minutes. Makes me wonder, are we slowly heading back to long-form?

New Audio Features

You can now import your own audio directly within Reels. This will allow creators to add additional “commentary or background noise from any video that is at least five seconds long on your camera roll.”

Interactive Tools

Instagram has also added a new feature that allows creators to use polls in order to know what exactly their audience wants to watch next in the video. The stickers that were only available on stories such as poll, quiz and emoji meter are now available on Reels too.

Templates

The templates feature allows users to select a reel from their feed and use it as a template while shooting their own reel. This means if you like someone’s template, you can add your video content to it too. Sound Sync comes in handy by letting users automatically sync video clips to the beat of a track.

Instagram started testing a new feature that allows users to pin their posts on their profiles earlier this year. It’s finally being rolled out globally as of today. Ever found yourself in a situation where you accidentally deleted an Instagram photo and want it back? You can easily restore deleted Instagram posts without using a third-party app. Instagram has a feature called ‘Recently Deleted’ that allows users to recover recently deleted posts. It is inclusive of photos, videos, reels, stories and IGTV videos.

Since the official release of the feature in February 2021, deleted posts stay in the ‘Recently Deleted’ folder for 30 days. After that, the content in the folder is automatically deleted. As for Instagram Stories, they are available in the folder for only 24 hours before they are permanently deleted. There is also verification before restoring to prevent malicious attempts from hackers from deleting or restoring your content.

Here is how you can successfully restore your Instagram posts from the ‘Recently Deleted’ folder.

Recover Deleted Instagram Posts

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Go to your Profile.
  3. Tap on the hamburger menu (three lines) at the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Click on Account and tap on Recently Deleted. Your recently deleted content is displayed.
  6. Select the post you want to recover. Tap on the three dots icon at the top. Here you can choose whether to permanently delete a post or restore it.
  7. Click Restore to recover the deleted content.
  8. For security reasons, a verification code is sent to confirm your identity. An OTP (one-time password) is sent to either your email address or phone number.
  9. Enter the code received and click Confirm.
  10. The deleted Instagram post will be successfully restored.

TikTok is starting to roll out the ability to upload videos that are up to 10 minutes long. This is after an increase from the previous 3-minute videos. They have been testing this feature for months and is rolling out to users globally. TikTok had initially started at 15 seconds, then increased to 60 seconds, then 3 minutes and now 10 minutes.

In a tweet shared by Twitter user @MattNavara on February 28th, posted a screenshot of a TikTok notification informing his ability to upload videos up to 10 minutes long.

Is TikTok creeping in on YouTube territory? When 3-minute videos rolled out, many users were pleased. This new feature has left many with bittersweet feelings.

TikTok videos for many users rose to popularity for its millions of short-form videos to easily catch users’ attention. One of the great things about TikTok for most users is watching and consuming lots of short-form videos for mindless entertainment. This is also easier for creators to create, edit and post content compared to long-form like YouTube. It tends to take more planning and time commitments than some creators would like to take on. YouTube has confirmed its investment for the recently launched Shorts in Kenya with a pledge of paying content creators up to KES 1.1 million every month for short 15-second videos uploaded.

YouTube has confirmed its plans to set up a KES 10.98 billion fund that will be distributed between 2021 and 2022. This will be a reward for those who create the most content that generates the most excitement and engagement on the platform.

The fund will then be distributed among thousands of eligible content creators each month as a bonus payment. Of course, the amount will depend on the videos’ performance throughout the month.

Kenyan YouTubers will then be glad to be included in a fund that was initially available in only a few countries. This includes Nigeria, South Africa, India, UK and the U.S. among others.

In a statement revealing this, YouTube says, “Creators can receive up to Sh1.1 million ($10,000) based on viewership and engagement of their Shorts content. To qualify, channels must meet the minimum eligibility requirements refreshed each month to give other creators the opportunity to receive a reward for their creative and unique Shorts.”

This could definitely be a huge motivating factor for content creators across the country to concentrate more on Shorts as much as they do on longer videos.
